Why Buy Conveyor Rollers Instead of Replacing a Conveyor?

Before I answer the question as to why someone should buy conveyor rollers instead of replacing a conveyor… Let’s talk about what a conveyor roller is first. A conveyor roller is a rotating tube that assists in the process of moving an object/s to its destination.

Another question one might ask is “Where do you find these?”  Conveyor rollers are most commonly found on live roller conveyors and gravity roller conveyors.

Obviously, if you don’t have a roller conveyor then you wouldn’t buy a roller as it would serve no benefit to you. Whereas, if you find yourself managing or owning a manufacture/warehouse facility you probably have one or you may need to buy a conveyor!

Now that we got that out of the way – Let’s briefly talk about the different types of conveyor rollers.

Conveyor Roller Types

  1. Straight
  2. Tapered
  3. Flanged
  4. Concave

Each roller type comes in different roller tubing materials such as steel, aluminum, PVC and much more.

Reason To Buy Conveyor Rollers Separately from a New Conveyor

  1. Replace a worn-out or damaged conveyor roller
  2. Upgrade a roller (ie. lower capacity or higher capacity conveyor roller)
  3. Change material of the roller
  4. Change to different bearings
  5. Dependant on the situation it’s cheaper (ie. replacing 3 rollers is cheaper than replacing a conveyor)

However, sometimes it makes sense to replace an entire conveyor. I’ll be writing a blog post on that shortly – please check back or join our newsletter for an update.

Conclusion

If any of the above reasons are relevant to your situation then it’s time to replace your rollers. So keep your conveyor up and running by investing in parts and rollers. The last thing you want is a conveyor and business to be temporarily shut down. If you are seeking expert advice please click the button below.
